Hi everyone, I’m Lucas and I recently joined b.ignited. I’m excited to share my journey of forming relationships and finding coaches here. It's been a great experience, and I hope my story can offer some insights to new employees or anyone considering joining our team.

The Beginning: Mentorship Before b.ignited

My journey with mentorship began even before I officially joined b.ignited. During my internship at The Beehive, a sister company of b.ignited, I was introduced to software testing. This experience sparked my interest in the field. I was fortunate to be paired with someone who guided me through the intricacies of testing in development. This early exposure and support laid a strong foundation for my future career and ignited my passion for continuous learning and professional growth.

Transitioning to b.ignited

After my internship, I joined b.ignited and was mostly mentored by Koen. This support system created a smooth transition into the company. Koen helped me navigate initial assignments and helped during daily standups while I waited to start at my first client. This structure ensured that I felt guided and engaged even before starting my first project.

The Buddy System: A Great Support

One unique aspect of the onboarding process is the buddy system. I was paired with Thomas, who became a significant help during my initial days at the company. Unlike traditional mentorship, the buddy system focuses on peer support, offering a safe space for new employees to discuss concerns and seek advice without the pressure of formalities.

Having Thomas as a buddy was invaluable. He checked in regularly, offering aid and professional insights without being overbearing. This made me feel comfortable.

Building Relationships within the Company

Building relationships with colleagues has been essential to my experience. Initially, working on client projects limited my interaction with other employees. However, the office days and various team activities provided opportunities to connect with my colleagues. These interactions revealed a diverse and vibrant group of people, both technically and personally. Interacting with them enriched my perspective and helped me grow professionally.

Team-Building Activities: Strengthening Bonds

b.ignited places great emphasis on team-building activities to strengthen bonds among employees. I participated in various events, including karting tournaments and dinners, which add a fun and social dimension to our professional relationships. Although personal commitments limited my participation after my son was born, I appreciate these initiatives for fostering a sense of community.

My Advice for New Employees

Don't worry too much about fitting in. Be yourself, and you'll naturally form relationships with the amazing people at b.ignited. Their input is invaluable, and these connections will enhance your experience here.

Conclusion

My journey at b.ignited highlights the importance of mentorship, peer support, and building connections within the company. These elements facilitated my smooth transition and created a helpful and enriching work environment. At b.ignited, we are committed to fostering a community where every employee feels valued and supported, paving the way for personal and professional growth.

Thanks for reading, and I hope my experience helps you feel more connected with b.ignited.
